Angola/Äthiopien 10-2008

Dear Prayer Partners and Supporters,

I want to give you a short report of what happened on my trip to Angola and Ethiopia. It was truly phantastic what the Lord has done and I want to thank you very, very much for your prayers and your financial support. I felt like an eagle carried by the wind of the Holy Spirit.

Angola

nl2008.10--1.jpgIn Luanda the capital town on Angola I met Pastor Juan Miguel form Madrid, who founded a work named Rehabilitation Marginal in short REMAR. He used to be an addicted gambler and met Jesus 25 years ago. He got delivered and had a burden to help people who are addicted. He bought a farm and started with drug addicts. Today they have many centers in 63 countries of the world. In Spain alone over 100.000 drug addicts have visited their centers. Even the government refers addicted people to their centers instead of putting them in jails, because they have seen the positive results of their work. All their work is funded through businesses which every center has created. In Spain alone they operate 180 furniture stores which belong to REMAR. All the income goes to the ministry work and they pay very little taxes and the former drug addicts work as volunteers. Their housing and living expenses are all provided. In Angola they are taking care of around 500 children and youth, who would otherwise live on the streets. They produce detergents which they sell and thus their work is funded in Angola. In many places they have taken over the centers of Teen Challenge. Pastors Miguel is a true Apostel of God and belongs to the Pentecostal Fellowship of Spain. He will be a speaker at next years European Pentecostal Fellowship in Madrid where also Reinhard Bonnke will be speaking. Pastor Miguel wants to start a rehabilitation center in Frankfurt and any church who has a heart for this can get in contact with him. You can find out more about REMAR under www.remar.org. I had the privilege to minister in his conference in Luanda and we had some wonderful meetings and people were saved healed and set free.

Ethiopia

Ethiopia was a phantastic experience. We drove from Addis Ababa to Schaschamene, a town 250 km south of Addis. The crusade took place on the soccer field. The first night I preached on “Jesus the deliverer” and many people responded to the altar call. Afterwards I prayed for the sick and many testified of being healed. The next night the crowd had doubled and I preached on the blood of Jesus, Gods medicine for our spirit and our body, if applied. After ministry for the sick a totally blind woman received her sight and the people were rejoicing. Her friends ran onto the stage and embraced her. The next day the crowd doubled again and we had about 10-15.000 people. I preached on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and many received and spoke in other tongues. We had many healing testimonies. One man testified of being healed of aids the day before. He went back to the doctor and they confirmed that he was free of Aids. Another woman testified of having a large tumor on her breast and after the prayer for the sick it was gone. Another testified of being healed of cancer. One man heard about the crusade and came as far as 140 km away for his healing. He said since 8 years he has terrible headaches and hears voices in his head. After the prayer for the sick he was totally free. No more pain and no more voices. He next day the was dancing on the stage. There were many other healing testimonies. The people went home rejoicing and singing “Jesus getano” (Jesus is Lord) on the way. On Sunday morning I preached in the largest Full Gospel Church in Awassa, the capital town of the south. There are more than 1000 Full Gospel Churches in the country. I preached on “Faith speaks, Faith acts, Faith receives” and Brother Temesgen who opened the door to come to Ethiopia ministered to the sick afterwards. We had a wonderful meeting and afterwards Pastor Tessema told us that the prime minister of the Southern Province was attending the meeting. Pastor Tessema is the president of the “Evangelical Churches Fellowship of South Ethiopia” which represents 15.000 churches with 7 million believers. He invited me to come again and hold crusades in parts where they want to evangelize and establish new churches.

Islam is growing in Ethiopia and the Moslems are building a mosque every 5 km. Pastor Tessema also told me that they are in need for seminars for their businessmen, how to operate businesses. They also need leadership training for their pastors, and training on communication. I told him that I will pass the information on to other friends and ministries and if possible others might come and help.

I will go back to Ethiopia beginning of February, end of March and in May, to do three more crusades. The budget for this crusade was very limited (€ 6000,-) and he told me that I should at least calculate €12.000 for one crusade in order to do prepare well. This time we had the cheapest equipment, limited advertising etc, because the budget was very, very small. I am believing God for these funds and will prepare in faith for these three crusades next year. I already gave my word in faith that I will be coming to do those gospel crusades.

As long as the door is open in Ethiopia I will go there and preach the gospel. They told me they could prepare a crusade every 6 weeks if I had the funds.

On the last day I meet Mr. Toshome Toga, the Speaker of the House of Parliament of Ethiopia. He is the second man after the prime minister and could very well become the next prime minister of Ethiopia in two years time. He and his wife are born-again, spirit-filled people. His wife gathers old people from the streets of Addis Abebe, who are begging there and takes care of them. She rents a house for the worst cases and takes care of others in their homes. Right now she is helping 100 old people and she has a vision to establish centers for the elderly allover Ethiopia. She told me everybody is helping the orphans but the old people are totally neglected in the nation and nobody thinks of them. Many old people sit on the streets begging. Many old people have to take care of the grandchildren because their parents died of aids. Thus they both end up begging on the streets. She will be visiting Germany and will speak about her work and if anyone wants to invite her or is interested in her work you are welcome to contact her. She could very well become the first lady of Ethiopia in two years time.

I want to thank you one again very, very much for your prayers and your support, to make this journey possible. I believe that the money will bear fruit in eternity and that it was a good investment into the kingdom of God.

Ethiopia is a wonderful country with 80 million people. The area where I have been is very futile but there are areas where there was no rain and the people suffer hunger and depend on food from outside. The Ethiopians are very warmhearted, friendly people and they are open for the gospel. The country is being developed and everywhere you can see construction going up. The time is now to preach the gospel. Please agree with me in prayer for the finances for those 3 gospel crusades in February, March and May. I will go again by faith, believing that God who opened the door will provide the means.

Yours in Jesus,

Ekkehard
